Wrestling for Jesus – Indie Doc at Pulse

Independent Film – Wrestling for Jesus

Filmmaker Nathan Clarke will share his documentary film “Wrestling for Jesus” as part of the Pulse Arts Conference. After the concert on Friday, March 9th there will be a showing of this compelling film. We anticipate the film starting at 9:45pm.

What’s the film about?

A man from rural South Carolina tries to find solace from the demons of his past by starting a Christian professional wrestling league. His goal is to use wrestling to evangelize his neighbors. However his passion and vision for his ministry are tested when his personal life begins to disintegrate.

Why An Arts Conference?

I was reflecting last night on why we do Pulse. It’s a lot of work gathering all the presenters, getting the word out, and pulling off the event. It’s a lot to ask of others too: pay money, give up your weekend. Why all the fuss?

The simple answer is this: the arts matter. The arts can easily be marginalized and pushed to the periphery. Sometimes they’re seen as the warm-up act to the sermon, or the “relevant” stuff we do to compete with the world, but not as the “meat and potatoes.” This couldn’t be further from the truth.
